Usage Policy

This Usage Policy (“Policy”) explains how Scend processes Customer Content and usage-related information to provide the Services, including personalization and recommendations. This Policy is incorporated into Scend’s Terms of Service.
Definitions
- Customer Content means data, text, prompts, files, and other materials submitted to the Services by you or your Authorized Users.
- Usage Data means telemetry and operational data about how the Services are used, such as feature interactions, workflow runs, configuration settings, credit consumption, timestamps, performance metrics, and system logs.
- Output means results generated by the Services in response to Customer Content or user actions, including research summaries, structured records, enrichments, and recommendations.
- Personal Data generally means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to an individual.

Depending on how you use the Services, Scend may process:
- Customer Content
- Usage Data
- Output
- Account and billing information
- Support communications
How Scend uses Customer Content, Usage Data, and Output
Scend processes Customer Content, Usage Data, and Output to:
- Provide the Services and generate Output requested by you
- Personalize your workspace and recommend add-ons, workflows, templates, and next-best actions
- Improve product performance, reliability, and usability, including debugging and incident response
- Optimize workflow orchestration, including prompt selection, routing, evaluation, and model/provider selection
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms and Acceptable Use rules
- Comply with legal obligations
AI and model usage
The Services may use AI components, including third-party model providers, to generate Output and operate features.
- Scend may use historical activity within your workspace, including Usage Data and prior Output, to recommend actions and to select prompts, choose model/provider, route tasks, and tune workflow parameters for your workspace.
- Scend does not use your Customer Content to train a general-purpose foundation model for broad external use unless you explicitly opt in in writing or via an in-product opt-in setting if offered.
- Scend may use aggregated and/or de-identified Usage Data and service performance metrics to improve the Services, including benchmarking, evaluation, and reliability improvements.
Human review and access controls
Scend personnel may access Customer Content or Output only as necessary to:
- Provide support you request
- Troubleshoot issues and maintain reliability
- Investigate suspected abuse or security incidents
- Comply with law
Access is limited by least-privilege controls and confidentiality obligations.
Third-party providers and subprocessors
Scend may use third-party providers (including hosting, analytics, payment, AI/model providers, and data providers) to provide the Services. When providers process Personal Data on Scend’s behalf, Scend maintains contractual and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service.
Retention and deletion
Scend retains Customer Content, Output, and Usage Data as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes such as security, dispute resolution, and compliance, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Retention may vary by plan, workspace settings, and product configuration. If you request deletion or terminate your account, Scend will delete or de-identify data in accordance with its retention practices and legal obligations.
Security and compliance
Scend maintains an information security program designed to protect Customer Content and Personal Data. Scend maintains a trust and security program, including SOC 2 compliance.
